Programme Intern
A meaningful internship where you’ll be part of an international work environment and a team passionate about improving maternal and new born health.
What We Offer
A meaningful internship where you’ll be part of an international work environment and a team passionate about improving maternal and new born health. This internship offers valuable insights into how an international NGO operates, with a specific focus on supporting Programme Team’s work.
Throughout your internship, you will actively contribute to key programme development functions, including supporting on fundraising, grants and project management processes and implementation. With guidance and support, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your own tasks, gain hands-on experience in project management and self-leadership, and develop essential workplace skills. We recognise the unique perspectives and energy our interns bring and are committed to providing a meaningful learning experience.
Your Role
You will work closely with the Programme Director, Head of Programme and the Portfolio Managers, assisting with daily operations while also engaging in longer-term projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Support on fundraising and grants management processes
- Maintain country mapping databases
- Support the portfolio managers on project implementation and ad hoc tasks
- Prepare meeting presentations, take meeting notes, etc.
This internship is flexible within standard working hours from 9:00 to 17:00 and the option to work remotely up to two days a week, or upon agreement. You will have regular weekly check-ins with your supervisor to support your learning and professional development. If you join us in Copenhagen, you must hold the right to undertake an internship in Denmark (work permit).
Who You Are
We are looking for a proactive person with a teamwork and ‘go-for-it’ attitude, who is willing to learn. You are required to be a Bachelor’s or Master’s student whose internship is integrated into their academic programme. Ideally, you have a background in global health, international development, clinical fields (such as midwifery), or similar areas, along with a strong interest in building external relations for not-for-profit organisations. As this is an unpaid position, applicants should be receiving financial support from a third party (e.g., SU/CSN/Erasmus Stipend or another student funding source).
If you are eager to gain hands-on experience in an international NGO setting and contribute to meaningful change, we encourage you to apply.

Maternity Foundation (MF) is an international NGO organisation that works to ensure safer births for women and new-borns through innovative programmes and digital solutions. From 2025 MF will accelerate the impact of the Safe Delivery+ Programme, a comprehensive, evidence based micro-learning universe with the Safe Delivery App, a free, evidence-based job aid, learning and training tool designed to support predominantly midwives, at the centre. The programme is aimed at holistically addressing maternal and new-born healthcare challenges through a multitude of activities including a new flagship initiative to be launched in 2025. The Safe Delivery+ programme takes a lighthouse approach, where exemplary cutting-edge practices and solutions using the Safe Delivery+ programme, act as frontrunners for innovative change which other countries can subsequently follow.
