Maternity Foundation has Danish roots but is a global organisation within maternal and new-born health, digital solutions, and learning programmes. In 2005, we started out as a smaller Danish organisation working in western Ethiopia. Today, we are an international NGO with offices in Ethiopia, India, and Denmark and engagements in multiple countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East and North Africa, and Asia. In 2023, we expanded our work into Latin America and the Caribbean. To date, we have reached 500,000 midwives and other healthcare professionals across more than 70 low-and middle-income countries.
Position summary
Our new Finance Officer (Accountant) will play a key role in ensuring the financial health and operational efficiency of Maternity Foundation. This is a hands-on role with a broad scope, covering everything from daily bookkeeping and payroll to donor reporting and financial forecasting. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting compliance with donor and regulatory requirements, and contributing to the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes. The Finance Officer will work closely with and report to the Finance Manager and collaborate with colleagues across departments and countries. You will be part of a small but dynamic operations team that supports the organisation’s global work. Key responsibilities
Daily and project-specific bookkeeping
Bank payments (national and international).
Other Bank transactions.
Issuing and handling invoices.
Monthly bank reconciliations.
Payroll and holiday administration (Danløn).
Managing travel expenditures accounts.
Contributing to overall financial reporting and forecasting.
Supporting financial donor reporting.
Assisting in budgeting and liquidity management.
The profile we are looking for

Qualifications and experience required
Relevant education within finance/accounting/bookkeeping or profound knowledge of accounting principles.
Strong IT skills, especially in Excel and ERP systems like Uniconta or similar.
Interest in and capability of optimizing processes and driving digital transformation
Experience with paperless accounting is an asset
Fully proficient in English and Danish.
Minimum 3 years of all-round accounting experience.
Experience with financial management of donor-funded projects is considered an asset.
Experience with payroll management is considered an asset.

Terms and conditions
The position is a permanent full-time or part-time employment based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The way of working is a hybrid model with the possibility to work from home up to twice a week. Salary will be negotiated based on qualifications and Maternity Foundation’s salary scale guidelines.
