Mike Asquith
Director External Relations – Executive LeadershipMike Asquith is our Director of External Relations and part of the Executive Leadership Team. In this role, he leads the organisation’s external engagement across communications, business development, and insights, research and learning, ensuring that evidence and data are translated into effective advocacy, partnerships, and global influence in maternal and newborn health.
Mike brings more than a decade of senior leadership experience spanning strategic communications, organisational development, and partnership-building across the fields of environment, health, and sustainability. Prior to joining Maternity Foundation, he held leadership roles at the United Nations Environment Programme and the European Environment Agency, where he led multidisciplinary teams and helped shape strategic priorities by translating complex data and evidence into policy-relevant insights.
Mike has extensive experience working in low- and middle-income countries and is driven by a strong commitment to delivering tangible improvements in people’s lives. His work has consistently focused on leveraging evidence to inform decision-making and advance sustainable development outcomes.
Mike holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from King’s College London. He has also served as lead author on numerous publications in the field of sustainable development
